A heart for people

Imagine a world free of pain. We can – and we are doing all we can to make it a reality. Caring for the world around us is a big part of who we are – from a patient’s pain to climate change – we are committed to doing what we can to tackle these issues, big and small.

Our modern-day society has created the basic conditions that make it possible for us to recruit talented employees, to develop innovative medicines and to make them widely available to patients. It is only right that we give something back to society.

Our work is focused on the needs of our health care system. Areas such as palliative care and the hospice movement have been particularly close to our hearts for decades.

“When a life-threatening illness makes life difficult, there is still often room for a smile, for a moment of happiness or the fulfilment of a dream.”

Dr. Heinz-Gerd Suelmann

Global Human Resources

We actively support individuals and organisations that use their hearts as well as their minds in their own work. Our core financial support is offered to institutions and organisations that support children with life-shortening illnesses.

The diverse local communities around the world that we work within are important to us. We offer financial support to local charities in these regions financially and welcome corporate fundraising initiatives by our employees.

Habitat for Humanity

Following the Nepal earthquake in 2015, many of our employees were keen to make a contribution to help daily life return to normal in Nepal. As a company, we decided to partner with Habitat for Humanity Deutschland to provide shelter and build affordable houses.

Little Stars

Specifically to raise awareness around children with life-shortening diseases and the urgent need to help finance children’s hospices, we have helped make the Little Stars film campaign possible. We have made three films to date; introducing the daily life of a child, expressing their hopes and dreams, and showing the burden for the other family members. The films are shown in cinemas and via YouTube.

The Little Stars film campaign tells extraordinary and moving stories of children with life-shortening diseases. The stories demonstrate that despite their inevitable fate, they are full of hope, love, and joy.
